Plus Brand Review: Leota

Finding professional or workwear options as a plus size babe is HARD.  I don’t know why, but a lot of brands seem to think we want polyester suits that look like they’re from 1994.

And while I love a strong shoulder, I’m not a fan of being a potential fire hazard!

Enter Leota!

Leota is a size-inclusive brand, known for creating stylish professional plus size clothes that don’t require you to form a close relationship with your dry cleaner (ie they’re machine washable).

Founded in 2011 by Sarah Carson, Leota also creates clothing as ethically as possible.  While other brands are in the headlines for destroying millions of dollars of merchandise that doesn’t sell, Leota donates unsold merchandise to women in need.

My Picks

I tried a few Leota styles, which I wore on a recent trip to NYC.  I rocked the Julie Jumpsuit in Leopard Grey and the red Sweetheart Dress in Goji Berry.

I wear a 3L in Leota pieces (size chart here), fitting the pieces to my 54″ bust.  I’m 5’3″, so I did hem the jumpsuit by an inch to wear with 3 inch heels.  This winter, I’ll probably layer it with a black leather jacket or solid trench coat.

My Faves

I like that Leota offers different fabrics in the same style, because it’s a bummer to fall in love with a few features of a piece – but not all of them, ya know?  Here are a few of my faves, most of which come in different styles.
