Like a lot of folks, I have been LOVING the HBO show, “Our Flag Means Death.” I love the storyline, characters, and all that jazz! While watching this show, I had a thought, “I wonder where the best plus size pirate costumes are?”
And this post was born! Ta daaaaa!
Plus Size Pirate Costumes
In this blog post, I have shared a variety of plus size pirate costumes! From pirate dresses and shirts to pants and trousers – as well as a diy plus size pirate costume idea – this list is pretty in-depth! I’ve tried costumes from a LOT of different brands, as I’m a huge Halloween nerd – and I’ve noted which brands, in my experience, I like!
I’ve started the list with costumes that are around $80, and because I love independent costume makers, I’ve also added custom costume makers for chichi fancy costume parties that are around $1,000.
Note: Costumes are separated by “men’s” and women’s,” aaaaand I don’t love that! Gender isn’t a binary. That said, I do use language around gender in this post, because people often use gender when typing things into google search!

Heads up – A lot of the models for these costumes are not plus size – but the costume comes in plus. I know this is SUPER annoying! Also, must costumes do not include accessories like boots!
#1 Plus Size Pirate Costume – Skeleton Flag Skirt & Dress
Ok, first up on this list of super fun pirate LEWKS, we have this plus size pirate costume!
- Sizing: Up to a 5X, which corresponds to a 51″ waist on their size chart. Be sure to double check this!

- Sizing: Up to a 7X, which corresponds to a 66″ waist on their size chart. Be sure to double check your own measurements!

Custom Pirate Costume Brand: Silver Leaf Designs
Silver Leaf Costumes is a company is known for their plus size steampunk, Victorian and other cosplay costumes! And they have a number of full costumes, as well as pirate skirts, pirate shirts and pirate pants – to diy your own costume!
Important to note is that the styling of their costumes may be more “Steampunk,” but if you swapped out accessories – you’d have a pirate costume! So keep that in mind!
