OMG!!! Today on my blog, I’m sharing my best personal recs on the best gifts for dad in 2023. Finding unique gift ideas can be pretty dang hard (I feel like all dads just buy what they want — and then it’s hard to shop for the dad who has EVERYTHING, fml!).
I’ve gathered up a bunch of my different recs from different corners of the internet, all to help YOU (because ily) find the best gifts for dad in 2023.

Before I get started sharing the best gift ideas for dad in 2023, I wanted to share a few tips. I know from personal experience that shopping for the best gifts for dad can be stressful — you want to get Dad a gift he’ll love and, even better, actually use!
For this reason, I’ve shared 3 tips or lessons I’ve learned when I’ve gone gift shopping for my dad (in 2023 and way before this year, lolol):
- Tip for Best Dad Gifts #1: LEARN about his hobbies and likes. Something that I realized a while back is that instead of spending HOURS looking for the best gifts for my Dad on the internet — complete with countless google searches — is that I should instead spend that time learning about his hobbies. Am I particularly into his hobbies personally? No, not really (lol). Instead, I did deep dive on his hobbies, googling things like, “Everything you need to know about Korean Dramas in 2023” (my dad loves Korean dramas), so that it was easier for me to brainstorm gift ideas for my dad based on things he likes!
- Tip for Best Dad Gifts #2: When in doubt, go for something FUN! Something I’ve learned with my dad is that there are a lot of practical gifts out there, but he can get those! I really think of the job of a gift to bring a smile to his face. (see the lightsaber chopsticks below)
- Tip for Best Dad Gifts #3: Write your FEELINGS in a card or a letter. Something I’ve learned in the last few years is that we shouldn’t wait until big moments (weddings, funerals, etc) to share how much we love our dads or the dad figures in our lives. If you end up with a gift for your ad you’re not super jazzed about – put your FEELS into a card, one that he can read later. Thank your Dad for the things he has taught you, and name them!
Finally, if you find yourself in the midst of an existential crisis — get a gift that includes a photo. Dads just love gifts with photos, I’ve found in my experience, and I’ve shared a bunch of optionsbelow!

Ok, my Dad is personally a BIG fan of all things Star Trek and Star Wars — we’re all nerds in my family lololol. Ok, I discovered this company when doing research for Valentine’s Day gifts — and I’m SUCH A FAN! Do Your Gin is a company owned by 2 brothers, and they make different alcohol infusion kits (whiskey, gin, vodka, tequila, etc). I think this is such a fun idea for the dad who loves to be creative (read: all dads), and it’s a good gift to get instead of yet ANOTHER whiskey decanter (and you know I love a whiskey decanter, lol).

I grew up giving my dad LOADS of ties as presents, for everything from Father’s Day to his birthday to Christmas.
My dad had a LOT of ties, lolol.
Now that I’m a bit more grown up, I can splurge on more professional gifts — like this leather desk set on Etsy. My dad works in B2B tech sales and has his own businesses, and these desk accessories are sleek and show a higher level of professionalism. I went with this powder-y blue color (it reminds me of my beloved dad) but you can get desk accessories from this maker on Etsy in a bunch of different colors! I love that!

A few years ago, I discovered my dad has a pretty rad artistic side. (Remember that Pinterest craze trend, where people melted crayons in a heart shape? My dad made a bunch of those!)! If your dad is also creative, but no a trained artist, then this art kit could be a fun and unique gift for your Dad! I love the soothing blues shown here.
Basically, this is very similar to a “paint by numbers” kit, except your dad places colorful rhinestones onto the image. Great for dads who love art, building things (legos FTW), etc!
