This past weekend I attended the TCFStyle Expoin Atlanta, Georgia.  The event is in its fourth year, and was created by the one and only Marie Denee of The Curvy Fashionista.  I attended the event as the #official Barkwood Clothing Brand Ambassador.

Below, I’ve shared an event recap (with tips for next year!!), as well as a review of the Barkwood Clothing pieces I wore!

Friday:  Blogger Mastermind

I’m self-employed, and I work as a business coach for bloggers around the world (okay, I haven’t worked with anyone in Antartica).  I signed up for the Blogger Mastermind, because Marie Denee is one of the OG plus bloggers.  Throughout the day, we nerded out about platforms, plug-ins and content ideas.

I wore the Barkwood Trouser ($195), along with a printed Barkwood Clothing gray crop top (made specially for the expo).  I carry most of my weight in my stomach, and these pants fit beautifully.

The trousers are wide leg, making one feel like a powerful bossbabe when walking around.  I’m 5’3″, so I had my trousers hemmed. Says Charniece White, founder of Barkwood Clothing, “I’m tall! Barkwood pieces are designed so that taller people can wear them, but they still look good on petite people. This is done through incorporating asymmetrical hemlines and changing the direction of fabric draping.”

In the world of plus size fashion blogging, people generally see someone in a piece and can immediately peg where they got it. Bloggers from around the USA came up to me asking what brand I was wearing, because they didn’t recognize the brand!

Saturday:  Expo Day #1

The first hour of the Expo was quiet, and then we were SLAMMED the rest of the day.  Attendees were so excited to learn about a new high end plus brand. There’s very few options in the plus high end/luxury space, and almost all stop at a size 20. I had a blast nerding out over construction and fabric choices with attendees.  People literally stopped to “pet the clothes,” because the fabrics feel so good.

I wore the Chevron Ruffle Dress ($225) in a polka dot print that will be available on the website soon.  My favorite part about this dress was the movement on the bottom.  Barkwood really gets how to dress a woman for power strutting, let me tell you!

Saturday Party

On Saturday night, Marie celebrated her 10 year “Blogiversary” with a party!  She looked SMOKING in the Lamb Leather Moto Dress ($995).

Sunday:  Expo Day #2

Because so many people came to the booth on Saturday wanting to see me in the Barkwood Trouser($195), I wore them again on Sunday!  Easy to press with deep pockets, these were a hit!

also wore this outfit to speak on a panel about getting involved with the plus community.  A big “thank you!!” to my ride or dies who filled the seats!  Usually, panels at the end of a conference aren’t attended, and I really appreciate y’all for showing out!
