Hey friend! If you’re on this blog post, it’s probably because you’re looking for a COMPLETE packing list for 7 days in Jamaica! I recently got back from a stay at an all-inclusive resort in Negril, Jamaica (about 1.5 hours from the Montego Bay airport), and in today’s post I’m going to share my complete packing list with you!

This blog post is all about Packing List for 7 Days in Jamaica.

Packing List for 7 Days in Jamaica

Packing for a week in Jamaica can feel a little daunting, especially if you’re like me and live in a colder climate. When I went to the Salt Lake City airport to fly to Jamaica, there was a little bit of snow on the ground! In today’s post, I’m going to give you a bunch of info from my lived IRL experience on what to pack for Jamaica.

Now, I’m a woman (ta da!), and I don’t have kids — so this post is all about what I packed for myself — and what I wish I had or hadn’t packed for myself!

I’ve organized this blog post into a few sections, because I pack based on category:

  • What clothing and number of swimsuits I packed
  • What toiletries I packed
  • What extra goodies I packed for fun in Jamaica
  • What I wish I had packed

Hi there! I’m Brianne Huntsman, AKA The Huntswoman, and I’m so glad you’ve found my blog! In today’s post, I share exactly what I packed for Jamaica!! If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line via email or DM me on Instagram!

Clothing & Swimsuits – Packing List for 7 Days in Jamaica

Ok, friend, the first thing to know about Jamaica is that it is HUMID! You’re going to sweat. I traveled in jeans on the plane from home to Negril, and dang I wish I had worn bike shorts under loose joggers or sweatpants. I was sweating BULLETS by the time I made it to the resort, lol!

When packing for an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica, you need to decide if you want to dress up for dinner. Some resorts even have costume parties or costume nights, which means, you guessed it, you get to pack MORE!

Here’s what I ended up taking:

  • All travel details PRINTED in a folder, with phone number (I usually just check my email for my travel details, but wifi access can be spotty! Have this printed out!!)
  • Multiple phone chargers (cable and blocks!)
  • Waterproof phone case
  • 3 swimsuits (I wish I had brought 5-7, see below!)
  • 2 shrug cover ups
  • 2 romper coverups (I wish I had brought 4-5, see below!)
  • 5 dresses for dinner
  • 3 t-shirts
  • 3 tank tops
  • Pajamas
  • Sun hat (1 with a short brim, like a baseball cap, and one with a wide BIG brim for the pool and glamourous moments!!)
  • Reusable water bottle or tumbler with straw (many people bring a 32oz reusable tumblr with a straw, as it keeps your drinks cold!)
  • 3-4 pairs of sunglasses from Target (you’ll lose a pair or two!)
  • Water shoes (I saw some ladies wearing water socks in the pool, which I thought was so smart!)
  • Beach bag
  • Lovey dovey adult items, ahem
  • Towel (might not be needed if your resort offers longer beach towels at the pool/ocean)
  • 1 pair of shorts
  • Undies and bras for 7 days
  • 1 pair of heels
  • 1 pair of sparkly flip flop sandals (daily use)
  • Backup flip flops (black)
  • 1 pair of fashion sandals
  • Earrings for the week (I packed costume jewelry I got from Amazon)
  • Socks for the trip back
  • Sweatshirt for the trip back
  • Costumes (depends on the resort you’re staying at!)

These sparkly flip flops made me feel a bit more dressed up with a wedge heel and sparkle! 10/10 recommend snagging these if you’re staying at a resort!

Now, I didn’t go on any excursions during my trip to Jamaica — I really went to relax and hang out on the beach and by the pool. If you plan on going on an excursion, pack a whole outfit for it — seriously. I know that can increase how much you pack by a LOT, but you will SWEAT in Jamaica. In Utah, I can sometimes get away with wearing an undershirt a few times and shorts a couple of times before they need a wash — NOT the case in Jamaica. If you’re out there adventuring and exploring, you will get grimey!!

In Jamaica, I wore one lightweight outfit during the day while hanging out, and then changed for dinner – that ended up being 2 outfits a day!

Some people just plan on wearing their swimsuit all day with a cover up, and then dressing for dinner. If your coming trip is your first time at an all-inclusive resort, then I recommend over packing to learn what you actually end up wearing.

I didn’t end up wearing the heels I packed, because I didn’t feel like it! But I was sure glad to have the option to wear them!

You are NOT going to want to put denim shorts over your swimsuit, trust me! Go for lightweight wraps, rompers and cover ups!!

Toiletries – Packing List for 7 Days in Jamaica

Ok, ladies, let’s talk about toiletries! I have 4-5 of these clear Sonia Kashuk bags from Target, as they make packing SO MUCH EASIER! I probably packed way more toiletries than other folks, so I’ve divided my list between MUST BRING and EXTRAS that I brought (I love me some skincare, lol.

MUST BRING:

  • Prescription medication & vitamins
  • Facial Sunscreen
  • Spray body sunscreen
  • Lotion sunscreen
  • Bug spray
  • Aloe Vera Gel
  • Comb/brush
  • Razors (multiple!)
  • Face wash
  • Moisturizer
  • Other face/skincare products
  • Hairspray or hair styling products
  • Toothbrush, floss, mouthwash
  • Tweezers & fingernail clippers
  • Q-Tips
  • Lotion (your feet get beat up!)
  • Body Spray
  • First Aid Kit
  • Makeup
  • Makeup remover wipes

When it comes to makeup, I found I really did not wear a lot. I was really glad I brought my Maybelline 24 hour lip stain, as it didn’t come off in the water or get smeared on the beach!

Also, I really recommend bringing both SPRAY body sunscreen and CREAM body sunscreen. Spray is great for if you’re in a hurry, but you want to also use cream sunscreen to really get coverage!

I highly recommend packing BOTH spray sunscreen (like this spray bottle from my fave brand, Sun Bum), as well as cream sunscreen! Spray sunscreen is great for touchups, but you’re gonna wanna lather up in sunscreen to protect your skin!!

EXTRAS

  • Fake eyelashes & eyelash glue
  • Sheet masks (face)
  • Nail polish (rough sands and pools means you’ll probably have to touch up your pedicure)
  • Nail polish remover
  • Face mask
  • Hand sanitizer // wipes
  • Laundry bag

Some folks may be surprised to read that I brough fake eyelashes to Jamaica, but I did this because I didn’t get my lash extensions done. Real talk, I only put on fake lashes for like 2 of the nights I was there!

I’ve bought about 5 of these Sonia Kashuk clear toiletry bags from Target, and they are a GAMECHANGER for travel! It’s so much easier to find my sunscreen, makeup, toothbrush, etc, using clear bags!

Extra Goodies – Packing List for 7 Days in Jamaica

Ok, so! Some folks choose to bring in school supplies or other things to donate while in Jamaica! That’s between you and customs!

Besides that, you may decide to bring some snorkeling gear. I fyou’re going snorkeling a lot, plan on packing a dry bag!

What I *WISH* I Had Packed – Packing List for 7 Days in Jamaica

Real talk, I wish I had brought more swimsuits and more coverups, as well as lightweight rompers/playsuits. I wish I had brought a lightweight romper (100% cotton) that could’ve worked as a swimsuit coverup or outfit! Jamaica is hot and humid! It probably wouldn’t have hurt to pack a digital wristwatch, to set an alarm to reapply sunscreen!

I thought I would use the same romper for multiple days as a swim coverup. And while I did, I felt a little grimey doing it!

Besides that, it would’ve been a good idea to bring a long sleeve rash guard or swim shirt. I didn’t go on excursions, but a UV blocking swim shirt that’s lightweight would’ve been a good idea!

Cash & Tipping

Your resort may have a “No Tipping!!!” policy, but everyone tips. I’m really glad I got about $300 in cash for tipping porters, bus drivers, a masseuse, etc. I got my money in 1’s and 5’s, which was super useful. This also saved me from ATM fees in Jamaica!

I didn’t pack all my money in one place (you never know!), which is also important. I kept a Note in my Notes App on my iPhone with info on where I had packed my money.
