Finding plus size dance wear can be challenging if you’re not sure where to look! Many dance wear brands focus on teens and kids, and their sizing options are often limited. Finding plus size dance wear for adults can be HARD!
With the progress of joyful movement and body neutrality, dance spaces have become much more inclusive of plus size dancers in the past year – creating supportive activities for diverse bodies.
Aaaand, it can be frustrating when dance wear brands don’t model the shift in dance culture by expanding their products to include plus size dance wear options for dancers.

Dance studios can be an intimidating place, with each dance teacher having different guidelines for what to wear. This can be even more challenging for plus size dancers looking for comfortable dance clothes that aren’t confined to athleisure wear styles and aesthetics.
We want fun dance wear too, right?!

Theatricals on Amazon has plus size leotards available in up to a 2X!
#2 Plus Size Dance Wear: Capezio
When I first wrote this blog post, Capezio didn’t have much in the way of plus size dance wear! I’m so stoked that they have expanded their offering. They offer wrap skirts, camisole plus size leotards, shorts, briefs, skirts, etc.

- Up to a size 3X, some pieces stopping at a 1X/2X

#3 Plus Size Dance Wear: You Go Girl Dance
Next up on our list of plus size dance wear is You Go Girl Dance! This brand was founded in 1999 in Pennsylvania. The brand began as a place for dancers to get all their supplies in one place! The brand was actually started by a dance teacher and their student!
Yo Go Girl Dance carries plus size dance wear such as:
- Plus Size leotards
- Plus size dance tights
Sizing: You Go Girl Dance makes plus size dance wear up to size 4x with a waist measurement of 49”

#4 Plus Size Dance Wear: Body Wrappers
Last on our list of plus size dance wear is… Body Wrappers! This brand was founded in 1983, and the brand has carried many dance recitals and provided supplies for dancers of all ages through many years.
Body Wrappers carries plus size dance wear including:
Sizing: Body Wrappers makes plus size dance wear up to size 2x, with a waist measurement of 40”. (Their size chart goes up to a 6X, but we couldn’t find much above a 2X!)

#5 Plus Size Dance Wear: Girlfriend Collective
Next up on our list of plus size dance wear options, we have Girlfriend Collective! This brand prides themselves on their transparent business practices, including where their fabric is sourced from and providing details on how their fabric is dyed and created. Girlfriend Collective actually recycles old used water bottles and manufactures them into fabric for their clothing!

Universal Standard founders Polina and Alex wanted to challenge fashion standards by offering diverse plus size options up to size 40 with the same ease of access that “straight size” shoppers experience.

Skims is a lounge, shape and under wear brand specializing in supportive garments. Skims was an initial idea by Emma Grede – who was seen on shark tank! The brand was later made popular by Kim Kardashian, a co-founder.

Next up, let’s talk about where to find plus size ballet clothes! I was so excited when PopFlex showed up on my feed, offering plus size ballet wear!

#3 on our list of plus size dance wear brands, we have Athleta! This brand was acquired by Gap in 2008, and has since then grown into a massive brand with a passion for sustainability.

- Plus size dance skirts
