Today, we are talking ALL ABOUT plus size neutral outfit ideas! Neutral outfits can be so chic and sophisticated, but it can be hard to figure out how to put one together!

When it comes to putting together neutral outfits, it’s important to know how to play with saturation and texture.
I know that sounds kiiiind of overwhelming, but stick with me, bestie!
- Saturation: The intensity of the color
- Texture: The feel of the fabric
When playing with a neutral palette, it’s important to be strategic with how saturated the neutral color is. You can think of saturation as how vibrant the color is or how dark it is. (Professional artists, leave my example alone, lol!)
When putting together a plus size neutral outfit, you’ll likely notice that the most saturated color in the outfit are on the bottom. This is because our cute little brains and eyes have evolved to appreciate this kind of effect. If you want to knowingly break this rule (leaving the least saturated color on bottom), you absolutely can.
Next, let’s talk about TEXTURE! In many of the plus size neutral outfit ideas below, you’ll notice how the stylists have played with texture to add visual interest. Things like pairing a satin or shiny fabric with a more rough cotton! By playing with contrasting textures, you can elevate the outfit!
One of my favorite quotes goes something like: “Learn the rules so that you may break them” from Pablo Picasso himself!

Ok, so fun fact: This plus size neutral outfit actually inspired this whole blog post! I’m SUCH a fan of the combination of chic colors here, and how the Eloquii team added a bit of visual interest with the skirt to give us such a shining example of a plus size neutral outfit!
With this plus size neutral outfit, notice how the most saturated piece is on bottom, and then matches the duster! I love how the team kept minimal simple jewelry but layered it, adding interesting texture to this outfit!

#2 Plus Size Neutral Outfit Idea: Faux Leather Jumpsuit from Eloquii
I love love LOVE seeing models who are above a size 20! As a plus size model myself, I know it can be HARD to get booked if you’re not a 14 — and this model is kILLINGGGG this plus size neutral outfit from Eloquii!
I love how the Eloquii stylists paired the faux leather jumpsuit with a white button down – this is so chic and visually intersting!

#3 Plus Size Neutral Outfit Idea: Knit Dress & Trench Coat from PrettyLittleThing
Next up on my guide that’s PACKED with plus size neutral outfit ideas, we have this classic neutral outfit: A white knit turtleneck dress with tan overcoat. If you live in an urban area, black boots make sense (light color boots get dirty FAST), and this is a great outfit for fall or winter.
Here, the stylists at PTL slicked the models hair back — which is also super chic! They kept the outfit simple when it came to jewelry, opting for a hoop earring!

#4 Plus Size Neutral Outfit Idea: Duvet Coat from ASOS Curve
Next up, let’s talk about the ICONIC plus size duvet coat (or “pillow coat”) that can be part of such a fabulous plus size neutral outfit.
Here, ASOS Curve has put together a STELLAR example of how this type of coat can be used for a street fashion look, pairing athleisure elements with the coat for a layered plus size neutral outfit. Notice all the different fabrics (TEXTURE FTW) and tones in this outfit! Totally killing it.
I think what I love most about this outfit is that it could stand on its own sans the coat — the model is wearing the duvet coat — not the other way around!

#5 Plus Size Neutral Outfit Idea: Casual Denim Neutral Outfit
Next up, we have this GREAT example of switching the rules up when it comes to a plus size neutral outfit. Here, we can see the Eloquii stylists are mixing textures (ribbed sweater, denim and the slick boots), but the lightest color is on BOTTOM!
So fun!
I love how they styled this with gold earrings and a bracelet! We love to see it! You could also layer a few longer necklaces over the shawl collar, if you’re into the gold necklace layering trend ATM!

#6 Plus Size Neutral Outfit Idea: Matching Suit Set from Madewell
Probably one of the more easier plus size neutral outfits is a matching suit set in a neutral color palette. You can wear the trousers and jacket separately here, or wear a matching neutral suit!
Notice how the Madewell styling team paired the more rough looking trousers and jacket with a more silky blouse, and then a leather purse. It’s all about textures, babes!!

Ok, so for the purposes of this blog we’re going to treat Khaki Green as a NEUTRAL, because I can! (Hey, it’s MY blog, lol!) I had to include this STUNNING matching suit set from REFINITY, and I think it would look just as stunning with a cream or white camisole or blouse.

#8 Plus Size Neutral Outfit Idea: Brown Faux Leather Trousers
If you’re a bit nervous about dressing only in whites and creams, then this is a great plus size neutral outfit idea for you! Here, the Eloquii team has taken a neutral outfit featuring a classic twist on a turtleneck, pairing it with faux leather brown trousers!
I love the short necklace lying just below the collar line! The snakeskin booties add a bit of an edge to this trendy plus size outfit, and you could also swap them out for black boots. (I love the snakeskin boots tho, I have a whole roundup on wide width snakeskin boots here!)

Next up, I wanted to be sure to include a professional plus size neutral outfit that could be worn in the office! These wide leg trousers are just so chic!

I am SUCH a fan of seeing interpretations on sleepwear for daytime, and PTL really showed up for this trend! This plus size neutral outfit features a satin-like champagne dress with cream coat in a different fuzzy texture.

#11 Plus Size Neutral Outfit Idea: Monochromatic Brown from 11 Honoré at Dia & Co
Dia & Co recently acquired 11 Honoré, the plus size brand known for helping high end designers and luxury fashion houses reach the plus size market.
This brown suit is STUNNING, and I love the almost equestrian vibe that the tucked in pants give to it. This is not what one typically thinks of when one thinks of a “neutral outfit,” but more than half the fun in fashion is upending what people expect. 😉

#12 Plus Size Neutral Outfit Idea: Chic Half Sweater from Eloquii
Next up, I just HAD to include this plus size neutral outfit, even though we can’t see the whole thing! I love how the stylists incorprated this almost gray half sweater, mixing it in amongst neutrals in different tones.
You can see here the different textures at play, along with the chic makeup and slicked back hair. Love this stylist, right on the nose, as per usual from Eloquii!

Now let’s continue this trend of more casual plus size neutral outfits with this simple yet chic outfit from Ryan and Wylde! I’ve never personally tried this brand, but I am INTRIGUED!
You could choose to tuck in the whole shirt, or go with a more French Tuck, a la Tan France!

And we’re back with another street fashion take on the plus size neutral outfit trend! I love seeing baseball hats on fashionistas, and this plus size neutral outfit is just so fun!
