Today on my blog, I’m writing ALLLLL about alien romances. I think alien romance novels are so fun! I’m a HUGE romance novel nerd and lover, and I know how hard it can be to find more romance books (especially ebooks) that fit my taste!

Alien Romances
I first got into alien romances during early 2020, when we had to stay indoors. I booted up my Kindle Unlimited app, and I had a blast finding new authors. Something that really surprised me was how GOOD and FUN the writing was for independent authors. I knew some indie authors are rad (I’ve loved Gail Carriger’s self-published books for YEARS), but I was surprised to see indie romance author with HUGE backlists.
As a voracious romance reader, I was very excited to see those backlists, lololol. I am also a fan of monster romances and romances with a plus size heroine!
When it comes to reading or finding new alien romance novels, I have a few tips I’d like to share with you to make your journey a bit easier:
- Tip #1: Subscribe to Romance Author Email Lists: If you find an alien romance author you LOVE, I definitely recommend joining their email list! Authors frequently give “shoutouts” to other authors with a similar kind of reader, so this can be a great way to find new books! (Also, authors will often offer novellas – short romance novels – or additional chapters or scenes to their email subscribers!)
- Tip #2: Join Author FB Groups for Readers: Indie authors often host their very own Facebook group for fans. I’ve personally found a number of great authors (some included in this list!) from readers commenting their recs in these FB groups!
- Tip #3: Heed the Algorithm! All hail, the mighty algorithm! Jokes! Kind of! Seriously though, the recommended titles that pop up UNDER a helpful title on Kindle Unlimited can be super useful! I am always scanning “related authors” and “Readers Who Liked This Also Liked…” on Amazon

Get Alien Romances on Kindle Unlimited
Listen, if you plan on snagging more than a few of the alien romances in my listicle, then you NEED Kindle Unlimited. If you’re anything like me, then you read a TON of books. (Most romance readers are VORACIOUS!!) Kindle Unlimited is CLUTCH because it works similar to Netflix. You pay a subscription fee of around a few lattes for Kindle Unlimited, and get access to UNLIMITED books.
In my experience, Kindle Unlimited has more than paid for itself!

Well, the millions of books that are on the Kindle Unlimited platform, anyways!!
This is also great, because authors get paid through Kindle Unlimited (KU), earning a set amount of money per page, generally. I know when I first heard about KU, I was a bit nervous — I didn’t want authors to suffer. But they def get paid through the platform!
And, because I’m such a fan, I’ve been sure to note what alien romances are available on KU in the description. Some authors change things up though, so be sure to click on the link to double check if the book is on KU. (It’ll usually have a little banner across the top.)
TLDR: AS AN AVID READER, KINDLE UNLIMITED SAVES ME HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS A MONTH, AND AUTHORS GET PAID FOR EVERY PAGE I READ!

#1 Alien Romances: Choosing Theo | Kindle Unlimited
I ADORED this alien romance novel by Victoria Aveline, and based on the reviews, I’m not alone! This alien romance has over 8,000 reviews on Amazon, which is QUITE impressive, especially for an indie author!
My Brief Synopsis: Our heroine, Jade, is kidnapped from earth by some sketchy aliens. She ends up in a sort of matchmaker program (spicey edition), and “placed” with a brooding alien. AHEM.
If you like smoldering with some ANGST, and the whole “plucky heroine broody hero” romance trope, then this is the book for you!

#2 Alien Romances: A Post-Apocalyptic Alien Romance (Xarc’n Warriors Book 1) | Kindle Unlimited
I am a HUGE nerd for post-apocalyptic books, and Lynnea Lee has QUITE the backlist (other books she’s written) for the alien romance fan. I really appreciate that this series engages with diverse set of heroines, playing with tropes but still making each character stand out. This is a great “band of brothers” alien romance universe!
My Brief Synopsis: Gross bug alien creatures invade earth, and then their “hunters” show up to try to save humanity. Apocalypse ensues, and oh whaddya know the aliens enjoy saving brave-yet-outmatched human women!!

#3 Alien Romances: It’s Not Unusual To Be Loved by an Alien (Tentacular Tales Book 1) | Kindle Unlimited
This next alien romance is super fun! I’m an LGBT blogger, so you KNOW I’m going to include some M/M gay alien romances. This alien romance from Chloe Archer features a popular alien romance trope (ahem), and is very fun and campy.
My Brief Synopsis: This gay mm alien romance features a spectacularly dorky and endearing scifi dork, along with a brooding alien commander. It’s fun, a bit campy — and still serious. With a touch of YEARNING. But def not a tear jerker! This is a fun alien romance romp through Vegas, baby!!!

#4 Alien Romances: The Melier | Kindle Unlimited
This alien romance novel features a blue alien, but not the famous kind!
My Brief Synopsis: This fun alien romance features a heroine who belongs in space (sometimes I get tired of the whole “kidnapped from earth” trope). I don’t want to give too much away, but if you love a heroine with a rescue/savior complex, this is a fun read. (Def check out the content warnings in the book description!)

#5 Alien Romances: Earth Fathers are Weird | Kindle Unlimited
This next alien romance is an MM (read: gay) alien romance, featuring a human dude from the military who ends up with a job as an alien nanny. Kind of. The author has a more Douglas Adams type of style, with very dry humor.
It’s fun, engages with the challenges humans face when they realize Life Exists In Space. Lots of cross-cultural hijinx!

#6 Alien Romances: Levekk Invaders Series | Kindle Unlimited
Love a gritty alien romance? Then this is the one for you!
My Brief Synopsis: Aliens showed up, took over earth and… employed (read: basically enslaved) humans. So what happens when a human woman falls for an alien conqueror, and how does THAT impact power dynamics? So fun!

#7 Alien Romances: Alien Protector’s Rescued Bride: A SciFi Alien Romance (Draconian Warriors Book 5) | Kindle Unlimited
Ok, so THIS series from Juno Wells was actually one of the first alien romance series set in outer space I read. The interplay of species and interpersonal power dynamics is veryyy interesting.
My Brief Synopsis: Human women are captured from Earth by Bad Alien Dudes TM, and end up being saved (and also saving) other alien dudes. Very fun! Much longing, yearning and very cute confusion resulting from misunderstanding cultural practices!

#8 Alien Romances: Taken by the Alien Warrior | Kindle Unlimited
Ok, so THIS alien romance novel will forever hold a soft spot in my heart!
My Brief Synopsis: Like the previous series, this story features alien women kidnapped by the Bad Dudes TM and saved by Hot Dudes TM (I’m being QUITE reductionist here). What’s fun is that instead of being in SPACE, the human women find themselves on a more.. tech resistant planet. Ahem.

#9 Alien Romances: Urf Oomons by Bebe Harper | Kindle Unlimited
One of the reasons I love romance novels is because authors can easily incorporate or take digs at existing things happening in the cultural zeitgeist. Like NFTs, lol.
My Brief Synopsis: Series covers different alien women being rescued (first adopted when the aliens underestimate their intelligence) and ending up with tentacled aliens! How fun! Lots of fun and camp, def start with book #1!

#10 Alien Romances: Taken by the Alien Prince: A Knotty Alien Proximity Romance (Cryo Crisis Book 1) by Deiri Di | Kindle Unlimited
So ONE of the super fun parts about indie romance publishing is that authors can build out mega universes, with dozens (!!) of books. They can literally do whatever they want!
And in this series, Deiri Di has done just that — exploring different alien romance storylines in a universe where humans have been kidnapped, but alsooo whose ancestors who have explored the stars.
This series is just… fun! Mainly comprised of some bubblebath reads!

#12 Alien Romances: The Alien’s Runaway Omega | Kindle Unlimited
Something that I appreciate about alien romances, especially in the MM genre (there aren’t a lot of FF or WW alien romances, which is an anthropological conversation for another day) is the way the authors can PLAY WITH GENDER ROLES.
Especially in a romantic dynamic. So fun!

Looking for a broody winged alien member of royalty? I thought you were, so I included this book by Nancey Cummings! Also has pretty heavy political intrigue, so if you want to turn your brain off while reading — this isn’t the book for you! :*

#14 Alien Romances: Holiday Tails Series by Marina Simcoe | Kindle Unlimited
Want an alien romance that’s a beach read? Sometimes, a gal just wants what I call a “Bubblegum Read.” Something light and fluffy, wtih drama, but a guaranteed HEA (Happily Ever After). This is that beach read!

#15 Alien Romances: Nailing the Alien: A grouchy/sunshine fated mate romance (Beastly Alien Boss Book 1) | Kindle Unlimited
Ok, this alien romance novel made me SNORT WITH LAUGHTER. IT’s so fun! And I not-so-secretly think the author is a marketing genius, combining the current orc romance zeitgeist with ALIENS Genius.

#16 Alien Romances: The Alien’s Mate by Delaney Rain Kindle Unlimited)
Ok, so Delaney Rain (the author of this next alien romance I’m about to tell you about), did something pretty interesting, from a publishing perspective.
She has a series of around 7 books with different kinds of ~monsters~ (my roundup of monster romance novels HERE) featuring gay or MM characters. Why am I telling you this? Because the series is v v fun, but doesn’t feature ONLY aliens.
My Brief Synopsis: Cutie patootie stoner bro is kidnapped by aliens and finds himself with other humans on a slave ship — and some other imprisoned aliens who are quite appreciative of his, ahem, assets.

#17 Alien Romances: Strange Love: An Alien Abduction romance (Galactic Love Book 1)
OKAY SO! I think this alien romance book from Ann Aguirre is the VERY first alien romance I read, and I am SUCH A fan! The worldbuilding and critique of humanity (that we see a lot in science fiction) is def here. This is a delicious and CUTE alien romance novel — for hardcore Star Trek fans who want SUBSTANCE in their world building.
Buuut, keep in mind it’s a ROMANCE, so Aguirre does NOT spend 13 chapters explaining the political structure of the planet’s government. If you want that, run off to full-blooded science fiction land, my dove!!

#18 Alien Romances: The Alien Emissary: An MM Alien Romance (Interspecies Alliances Book 1) | Kindle Unlimited
I was delighted to discover last year that Amazon now offers “short reads” for romance fans who like to read a whole story a day. This book was SO well-written (less fan-fiction like than some of these books on my list, no hate!!), and the YEARNING! If you end up loving this book like I did, then you def need to check out Megan Derr (see my post on LGBT fantasy romance novels, here!)

#19 Alien Romances: Beth’s Stable: A Reverse Harem Romance (Stolen by an Alien Book 6) | Kindle Unlimited
Is the term “reverse harem” problematic? Probably? Unclear to me in this moment. Like, I think it’s a helpful term, but also —- ermmmmmm….. o.O
BUT this is a BELOVED trope in romance (who says we can’t have it all, ladies?!), and this book is a HOOT. Seriously, Amanda Milo’s books CRACK ME UP. If you’re super into movie references, then you’ll love this book.

#20 Alien Romances: The Quarry Master – Grumpy Sunshine Boss Romance by Amanda Milo | Kindle Unlimited
ITHIS BOOK IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE ALIEN ROMANCE NOVELS! wasn’t kidding when I said I loved the “grumpy boss’ romance trope! This book takes that to the next level.
My Brief Synopsis: Grumpy Alien Boss heads a quarry that humans are (willingly) working in to build their new home on a planet provided by other aliens. This book features a plucky sunshine human woman with some deep insecurities, her grumpy boss and lots of fun spicey moments. Ahem!

#21 Alien Romances: Corsair Brothers by Ruby Dixon (Kindle Unlimited)
NOW YOU KNOW, I wouldn’t dream of writing a list on alien romance, without our Blue Alien Creating Queen, Ruby Dixon?!?! I mean, obviously.
While her other series (further on down my list) is very popular, I’m much more of a fan of her characters that hang out in SPACE! I’m more into the glamour of sonic showers and less into the whole “roughing it to survive on an alien planet,” frankly!!

#22 Alien Romances: Corsairs Series by Ruby Dixon
This Corsairs series is my NUMBER ONE favorite Ruby Dixon series, mostly because they’re pirates! In space! How freaking FUN! Ruby Dixon does a great job of creating a stellar gritty world out there in the black starry yonder, while also writing delicious and pretty low-stress romance novels. Love this for us!!

#23 Alien Romances: Contagion by Amanda Milo (Kindle Unlimited)
Amanda Milo is BACK on my list, mostly because I love her and this is MY blog — I do what I want! 😀 This alien romance book is freaking hilarious, 10/10, made me giggle. it’s about an alien and human who both find themselves on a planet against their will, and they’ve gotta kick butt and find civilization. Check the content warnings on this one, my doves!

#24 Alien Romances: The New Neighbors Series by M.A. Innes
Ohhhhh, you want SPICEY spicey alien romance? Well then head on over to this series by M.A. Innes.
My Brief Synopsis: Aliens with tentacles showed up to planet Earth, and some humans freaked out but mostly everyone got over the alien arrival bc we have the collective focus of one singular goldfish. Aliens show up and have a blast seducing people of all genders, but this series focuses on MM.

#25 Alien Romances: Torkel’s Chosen
Ok, so THIS is a very fun alien romance series by Michelle Howard, wherein human women have found themselves in a pickle: There was a plgue-sickness-thingy and there aren’t enough men to go around.
So of course, the human women (logically) take to matchmaking in SPACE!

#26 Alien Romances: The Lion and the Mouse: Cosmic Fairy Tales | Kindle Unlimited
Ok, this cover makes me giggle (the woes and fun of indie publishing include ridiculous covers), but this book is actually a pretty… what I’d call “gritty” alien romance, engaging with discussions around colonialism, class, etc.

#29 Alien Romances: The Vorge Crew Series by Laurann Dohner
This book series was very fun, using the “Band of Brothers” trope for different kinds of aliens. Sometimes, I found myself annoyed — as I’m not SUPER into the whole “instalove” side of romance. But, still a fun series if you’re into that! (No hate to to the author!)

#30 Alien Romances: Exposed to the Elements Series by Honey Phillips | Kindle Unlimited
Honey Phillips is SUPER prolific author (she has something like 100 titles), and I love some of her work and really don’t like the other part! But this book was a fun romance read, one of those you probablyyyy wouldn’t own up to reading, lol, unless you’re blogging about alien romances!

#31 Alien Romances: The Kraken’s Mate (Iriduan Test Subjects Book 2) | Kindle Unlimited
ATTENTION SCIENCE FICTION NERDS! If you love world building and books with different alien races, then this is an EXCELLENT series. This is not a fun beach read series, imho, because there are loads of plot developments.
But don’t worry, the spiciness is still quite impressive! 😉

#31 Alien Romances: GRIM (Tornian Series)
If you’re into medieval romances Viking romances and you want to test out the alien romance genre, I’d def start with this series! This series gives me Game of Thrones kind of vibes! (Lots of power players, machination, etc).

Another section of the universe Ruby Dixon has built up is this book by Ruby Dixon. I’m a sucker for the whole “wounded gladiator falls in love with someone he can’t have” trope, and this alien romance is chock full of YEARNING, baby!

#34 Alien Romances: Mikko: A Scifi Alien Warrior Romance (Stolen Warriors Book 2) | Kindle Unlimited
Over the last couple of years, I’ve seen certain tropes in alien romance become more popular, including the “stuck on an alien PRISON planet” trope. It’s pretty Hunger Games-esque, and usually includes heists and breakouts (a la Oceans 11), which is pretty fun!

#36 Alien Romances: Entered in the Alien Bride Lottery: A Sci Fi Alien Romance | Kindle Unlimited
From the description: “Every unmarried female human over the age of 21 gets entered once a year. Why Do People Love Alien Romance Novels?
I think that alien romance novels have risen in popularity due to a number of reasons. Mainly, I think they appeal because a lot of the sexism or other issues people often have to deal with in real life can be skipped over (I mean, barring an alphahole, lol), and a relationship can be more interesting and, well, equitable.
Plus, I think we humans are kind of weird!
