In today’s blog post, I’m sharing my steps on how to change your daily goal on Duolingo! I used this method to change my daily goal on Duolingo, as upping (and lowering) your daily goal on Duolingo can make you more motivated to Duolingo on a daily basis.
I’ve written a few posts on Duolingo, as I’ve been on the platform for 4 years. And, in 2023, I got a LOT more serious – purchasing Duolingo Plus for the full year!

This blog post is all about how to change daily goal on Duolingo!
Change Your Daily Goal on Duolingo
I think a good amount of what makes Duolingo so fun to do is the gamification — the Duolingo characters, XP points, fun rewards and prizes, etc! (Plus I think that some of the sentences and stories on Duolingo can be super funny, lol.)
And part of what makes Duolingo fun is coming back to do it every day, which is where your daily goal comes in. Since starting Duolingo HARDCORE on January 1, 2022, (that’s a little over a year at time of publication) I’ve found that having a daily goal can really stretch me to meet my goals. My current goal is 20 minutes a day, buuuut sometimes when life gets busy I lower my daily goal on Duolingo (to five minutes a day), because I know it’s better to accomplish a smaller goal than to keep failing at a larger one, lol.
Plus, I like to mix it up!
Alrighty, let’s get into how to change daily goal on Duolingo, using either your mobile phone or your desktop computer (or laptop)!
Heads up – most people don’t know that there are MORE daily goal options on Desktop. On mobile, you set a daily goal for # of minutes. On Desktop, you set a goal for daily XP (points). I thought it was wild that you get two totally different options on my phone versus computer.
This means you should use Desktop if you want an XP goal, or your phone if you want a daily number of minutes on Duolingo.
How to Change Daily Goal on Duolingo – Using Your Phone & The Mobile App
Duolingo likes to switch stuff up, so basically every time I go to change my daily goal on Duolingo it’s a little different. I love that the Duolingo team is always improving Duolingo, but I do sit and have to scratch my head for a second to figure out how the HECK to change my daily practice goal on Duolingo.
Below, I’ve shared my steps on how to change daily goal on Duolingo on your phone or on the mobile app! (Side note, I used screenshots from my personal phone for my tutorial and step-by-step guide here, and I’ve blurred some info out! Don’t let it phase you, as I’ve left all of the information I think you need in the image!)
Step on #1: Open your app, then click the button on the bottom that shows a smiling face. (This is the second icon from the right!)
Step #2: Tap your finger on the little blue gear icon on the upper righthand corner (also kind of looks like a flower!)
Step #3: Scroll down on your settings, and click “Edit Daily Goal”
Step #4: Select your daily goal on Duolingo
How to Change Your Daily Goal on Duolingo – Desktop Computer
Ok, here are the instructions on how to change our daily goal on Duolingo on your Desktop computer. It’s pretty similar to doing this on the app, I think, but not exactly the same! 🙂
Now, with changing your daily goal on Duolingo, you want to remember that you are changing your XP goal! If you want to change the # of minutes for your Daily Goal on Duolingo, then you need to use the mobile app! (At least for iphone, lol! I don’t use Android, so my info is based on my PC and iPhone computer.)
Step #1: Login and mouse over “More”
Step #2: Select “Settings”
Step #3: Look on the righthand side and select “Edit Daily Goal”
Step #4: Decide on your Daily XP Goal on Desktop
Step #5: Select Save Changes
