Brand #1: Plus Size Gender Neutral Bathing Suits from DYINSF
My Twitter friend, Shilo Byrd, let me know about this gender neutral bathing suit brand – and I’m stoked! I love learning about small independent brands. However, I am disappointed by the lack of plus size and fat models in their photoshoots and on their Instagram feed.
It isn’t enough to include us in the size chart — we deserve to be SEEN in the feed and the photos. How can people buy something in their size, if someone doesn’t show it? I’m going to stop my rant there, and hopefully DYINSF takes action to be more inclusive. (BTW, I don’t necessarily think this should keep you from shopping at DYINSF, rather I want my readers to be very prepared with as much knowledge as possible.)
From the swimwear brand: “DYINSF began by selling handmade swimwear-for-all out of a San Francisco studio in 2012. We moved our queer-owned operation to LA and soon expanded our line into activewear. Today, we make custom garments that help people find ways to express who they really are, with custom work at no additional cost.”

- Sizing: The brand lists going up to a 4X on their site, AND you can email for a custom size – at no extra cost.

Brand #2: Gender Neutral Plus Size Bathing Suits from Beefcake Swimwear
A longtime favorite of the LGBT community, Beefcake Swimwear offers 1920’s inspired swimwear – that fits the whole ~gender neutral swimwear~ vibe. The company was launched a few years ago with the help of Kickstarter, when the founder’s roommate wss looking for masculine-of-center swimwear.
- Sizing: The company goes up to a 5X (a plus size 5X), which is around a size 30 [a 55 inch waist].
You can stick with a classic black and white look, or go for a more 1970’s inspired print!

Brand #3: Gender Neutral Bathing Suits from TomboyX
Another LGBT-owned brand, TomboyX, offers plus size gender neutral swimsuits!
The brand has one style options, interchangeable shorts and tank tops. They also have their famous “unisuit’ a one piece swimsuit with longer shorts and sleeves!
- Sizing: Gender neutral swimsuits go up to a 6X, which corresponds to a 55 inch waist!
In addition for being great for a day at the pool, the unisuit is also a go-to swimsuit for triathlons, surfing and other activities!

Brand #4: Rebirth Garments Plus Size Gender Neutral Bathing Suits
Some members of the LGBTQ+ community don’t go swimming, because their binder will be damaged by chlorine or salt.
Luckily, ReBirth Garments has swooped in with a solution! The brand has combined a binder with swimsuit fabric, making it easier for folks to just, you know, live their life and go the freakin’ pool.
- Sizing: The brand does made-to-order pieces, so you share your measurements for the perfect fit!

Universal Standard recently entered the swim market, which is pretty freakin’ exciting, as they’re one of the most size inclusive brands on the market, going from a 00 to a size 40. I’ve linked to my personal favorite gender neutral swimsuit of theirs, but they have a BUNCH! Don’t be afraid to click around!

I *just* learned of this brand, and I don’t know where I’ve been! They specialize in gender neutral clothing, and have a TON of different plus size gender neutral swimsuit options. Like a few other brands on this list, they don’t have very many photos of their pieces on their largest size, so heads up there. <3

Ulla Popken doesn’t ONLY make plus size gender neutral swimwear, as they’re a MASSIVE international company, lol.
But they do make a few pretty rad plus size gender neutral swimsuits, so I wanted to include them as an option, here at the end!

One of my fave LGBT-owned brands is CHROMAT, a high end swimwear brand known for architectural pieces. Founder, Becca McHaren-Tran, was having inclusive runway shows before journalists started caring about inclusive fashion!

I also love that Chromat plays with STRAPS and fun with their plus size gender neutral swimsuits! The interplay of design and gender is pretty rad.
